The Eco has been developed over 6 years into the most reliable, versatile medium sized electric helicopter available.
Pilots can get up to 15 minutes flight times from standard modern cells and standard flight combinations-that's a longer flight time than most glow-powered helicopters!
With it's perfect single axle rotor head and amazingly strong box frame construction, it's no wonder that more people are learning with the Eco 8 and progressing to advanced aerobatic flight too!
Aircraft pilot?
If you already fly planes, you'll be glad to hear the Eco 8 can be flown with a normal 4-channel aero transmitter too! Or use a normal heli transmitter and choose between flying with the mechanical mixer supplied in the kit or cyclic collective pitch mixing (CCPM), (three servos, 90°) where the servos drive the swashplate directly! If you're after performance and quality engineering, the tail rotor is driven by a low-loss kevlar-reinforced belt, making not only for a virtually indestructible drive but also nearly zero transmission drag, ultra-low weight and better tail stability/tail response than that found in helicopters twice the size!
Expert pilot?
If you're an expert that wants to use different battery packs and gear ratios; the huge number of CNC pinions listed opposite will help you get the best from your motor/battery combination.
The carbon frame set (option part) not only looks exquisite; it's stronger than the original and saves you weight. If you lose just 30 grams from the all up weight, you will increase flying time by half a minute!
Ikarus motors designed for use in the Eco 8
Heli Performance motor - designed specifically for ultra-long flights from your Ikarus Eco 8 electric helicopter. 15-20 minute plus flights are now possible!
Heli Power motor - we really enjoyed testing and flying this motor! It drove our test Eco 8 helicopter into the blue like a scalded cat! Literally, the Power motor performed as if it was a brushless motor allowing easy aerobatics and rocket-like climb rates. A definite must for the adventurous electric helicopter/Eco 8 pilot.
Heli Sport motor - a specially wound motor suitable for most 7-8 cell electric helicopters. This high quality motor is fitted with ball-races and adjustable end bell to suit either direction of motor rotation. Supplied to suit clockwise rotation. This is the recommended choice for the Ikarus Eco 8 helicopter. Typically gives your Eco 8 10-15 minutes per charge flight times.
